Over Closet Loft Cavity (Closet Doors Added)

Before
After

This project was request to close up a loft closet cavity by designing and building an enclosure with 3-way sliding door. The only main challenge was that the ceiling wasn’t flat, it had an angled vaulted surface.

- Step 1: We took measurements of the open area

- Step 2: We had to present 3D render so the client could see what the enclosure would look like post construction

- Step 3: Run to @homedepot to pick up the needed material (the sliding door function comes as kit found at Home Depot)

-Step 4: Frame out open space. Since the ceiling was angled and not flat we had to cut a piece of wood to create an acute angled triangle shim that would position the top wood 2x4 in a flat position

- Step 5: Add plywood to base of loft cavity top to reinforce the drywall’s integrity to support heavy items or use of crawl space

- Step 6: Cut facade molding trim pieces

- Step 7: Paint all molding trim and framing

- Step 8: Install sliding door track(s) and place doors

- Step 9: Paint doors and add cut outs for slide finger-handle notches

- Step 10: VOILA !

Project complete. This took approximately 6-7 hours to complete from start to finish (including the run to Home Depot to source material and supplies).
